Pilates
At Newcastle Sports Injury Clinic the type of pilates we teach is The Body Control Method. These exercises are adapted from the 'classical' exercises developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Pilates is used to strengthen muscles and provide a more structured body. In addition to toning, it provides a sleeker better shape, whilst flattening the core abdominal muscles.
Body Control have adapted the more classical excercises to make them more suited to the average person and the average body. So, in order for someone to work safely and effectively and to gain the full benefits of Pilates, these classical exercises should be broken down to establish good movement skills thus building the best possible foundation upon which to progress towards the classical, more advanced work. This is the essence of the Body Control Pilates Method.

All sessions are tailor made to clients needs and will focus on any areas of weakness. It may include abdominal, pelvic and back strengthening, together with global exercises for the whole body.
We offer individual session of either 30mins or 60 minutes duration and class sessions.
Our teacher is a Body Control Pilates® instructor and is a member of the Body Control Pilates Association (BCPA).

Yoga
Yoga is a scientific system of physical and mental practices that originated in India more than 3000 years ago. Most people believe that yoga is about stretching, but while stretching is certainly involved, yoga is really about creating a balance in the body, through developing both strength and flexibility. This is done through the performance of postures, each having their own physical benefits.
Our yoga sessions can be booked either individually or as part of a class.
