Shoulder injury rehabilitation – example exercises

Following the blog about Steve Maybury’s rehabilitation after repeated shoulder dislocations, below are two examples of exercises that have been given to Steve as part of his programme.

The key with the exercises is that they focus on slow, controlled movement, and that the weights involved remain low.

The aim is not to increase strength, but instead to focus on stability around the joint. If the weights used were too heavy, then strength would increase, but stability would remain weak/low.

Note that these exercises have been set for Steve by an expert, based on his specific needs. They are not exhaustive, and form part of a wider routine. For advice on your own injury and rehabilitation, please contact us on 0191 233 0500.
